Sydney and surrounding adventures

So we've escaped the country fashions of the Dale and have branched out a little retro/ 80's (thanks to a family b'day).

Well a few weeks have passed- Naomi has finished work in Newcastle and isnt half as tired :).
Neil has been painting and modifying the car big time- big roof racks, spotties x 4 on top and 2 on the bar- we really look like red necks- a photo will follow one day...

We had a mine adventure last weekend with my uncle. We were about 150mts below sea level under Lake Macquarie. The mine is a coal mine. The feeling traveling down was a bit weird as you go down backwards, the air thickens and the light (your door to the outside world) disappears. Funny though the mine is quite wide so it didnt feel as castrophobic as we first imagine. We travelled right the the coal face and saw them cutting- an interesting world to work in for sure.

Nan and Pops 58th Wedding Anniversary

This week we spent 4 days in Sydney doing the tourist thing which neither of us have really ever done. We stayed at Darling Harbour in accommodation which was originally a huge wool storage complex- it had a lot of character with the original floor boards and massive timber beams.

The weather was great so we did lots of walking around - seeing Darling Harbour, Circular Quay and the Rocks. We took a cruise on the harbour which got us up close to the Bridge and Opera House, Watsons bay and some harbour islands. We timed it just right to see 2 huge cruise liners in the Harbour- the Queen Mary 2 been the biggest towering well above the bridge and surrounds, 2500 passengers on board for her 108 day round the world trip she is the worlds largest cruiser liner.Big bucks for a ticket no doubt.

We ate lots of yummy food- steaks, ribs, Thai and of course Chinese in China town. A tour of paddys markets made Neil so jealous of all the cheap fruit and vege prices. We toured the Powerhouse Museum and the Martime Museum during the wet parts of our trip.
